New Software Tool from Solar Computer Integrates gbXML

Solar Computer is the developer of Green Building Information System (GBIS). It is a CAD application that provides a bidirectional gbXML-based connection to the SOLAR-COMPUTER suite of calculation programs for buildings (energy analysis, heat load, and cooling load) and systems. gbXML Schema Update - Invite to Collaborate

We are currently in the process of updating the gbXML schema and will be releasing an update by August 1, 2010.

I have created a Google Docs spreadsheet that will allow interested parties to collaborate on proposed updates. Please email me here if you wish to participate. I will then invite you to view and edit the document.

Seminar at ASHRAE Orlando Meeting

Stephen Roth and John Kennedy spoke at an ASHRAE seminar in Orlando, Florida. The seminar, titled "Which BIM Interoperability Schemas Are Most Appropriate for Different Types of Building Energy Design", included talks about gbXML and IFCs. It was attended by approximately 150 participants.

AIA Building Connections

Stephen Roth will be speaking on November 2, 2009, at the "2009 AIA Building Connections: The 6th Congress on Digital Collaboration in the Building Industry" in Washington, DC. The purpose of this meeting is to invite those in the interoperability trenches to convene and update each other on their progress and challenges in 2009.

It includes such features as sample gbXML files from a wide variety of software vendors and A/E firms, an online forum specific to gbXML issues, update-to-date news and events related to gbXML, current and archived gbXML schemas, a list of generous sponsors, and the ability to donate to help support gbXML.org.

Inaugural Webcast a Success
August 12, 2009

The first in a series of gbXML webcasts was held on August 12, 2009. It was presented by members of the gbXML Advisory Board, and it demonstrated how tools for Building Information Modeling (BIM) can integrate with various analyses software, using the interoperability of gbXML to help create more sustainable building designs. Almost 200 people attended the live webcast and many more have requested archived recordings. Please stay tuned for future gbXML webcasts.

gbXML.org is Now a Non-Profit Organization

Green Building XML is now a California non-profit organization with a Board of Directors and small management team. The official name of the corporation is "Open Green Building XML Schema, Inc." or "gbXML.org". By becoming a non-profit, we can now better promote the gbXML schema, raise funds, and develop software to aid software firms in developing tools that better integrate gbXML.
